Betting on Russia?

BC’s Betting on Football conference enters its fourth year, it promises to offer a revealing insight into the Eastern European and restrictive Russian markets this year.

One of the key panels that will be hosted at the conference focuses on opportunities for working in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), with commentary from respected figures from the region.

Panel speaker and Favbet Chief Executive, Nikos Halikias, says, "It is particularly interesting for us to discuss the current situation in Russia, given that Favbet was one of the many Eastern European-focused operators restricted access to the market by Roskomnadzor (Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of Telecom, Information Technologies and Mass Communications).

“We are looking forward to sharing knowledge about regulation changes in Russia and some of the other Eastern European countries on a high level panel at Stamford Bridge,” he added.

Paruyr Shahbazyan, Chief Executive for Bookmaker Ratings, agrees: “In Russia, the landscape is a bit more complicated, given that Roskomnadzor is determined to limit the number of licensed bookmakers, and has recently stepped up its efforts to block Western European operators from targeting its national consumers.”

Held at Stamford Bridge in London between 3-5 May, the event will host over 800 delegates from more than 40 countries. SBC aims to provide world-class hospitality, comprehensive networking and business opportunities, exhibition and product displays, as well as highly informative sessions from 125 leading industry speakers.

SBC Founder Rasmus Sojmark said “We’ve worked hard to make this year’s Betting on Football an essential part of the event calendar. No other conference will have such a high concentration of leaders, decision makers and speakers from the betting industry. It’s going to be a great place to network and do business.”

The event will also host a product pitching section called ‘Pitch Invasion’, an exclusive operator marketing event for around 100 C-Level executives, as well as a separate event for representatives of the top 40 sports betting affiliates.
