Macau casino revenue rose 26.9% year-on year to $2.5bn in June, coming in below a median estimate compiled by Bloomberg of 30% growth.

That brings the total gaming revenue for the territory to 126.4bn patacas for the first six months of the year.

Although the results are positive, Macau’s gaming industry is still in a stage of recovery from the effects of an anti-corruption campaign that threatened the high rollers market.

Casino gross gaming revenue in Macau’s VIP baccarat segment rose 34.8% year-on-year in the second quarter, in addition to the mass market GGR, including slots, rising 8.1% year-on-year.

After the somewhat disappointing results were posted, shares in Macau casino operators slipped, with Galaxy Entertainment shares dropping 3.2% and Sands China was down 2.1%,
