Adelson Family Foundation and The Las Vegas Sands will be contributing $4m to a relief fund set up for those affected by the recent mass shooting.

The donation was given in honour of "the courageous victims, festival-goers, first responders and medical professionals who joined together to save lives".

The Adelsons said: "No amount of financial resources will erase this terrible tragedy or bring back those who lost their lives because of it. To honour the memories of those lost, we must help rebuild the lives of people impacted and provide much-needed support to the organisations helping in that effort.

Following the recent tragedy, Sands Cares, the corporate charity program of the Las Vegas Sands, and Sheldon Adelson’s family foundation have both agreed to donate $2m each to help support those affected by the tragedy in any way they can. The money will also go towards the ‘city's resources to respond to crisis and disaster situations’.

The Adelsons added: "Las Vegas is our home and on behalf of every single Las Vegas Sands Team Member and the Adelson family, we pledge to do everything we can to bring our community together, provide support for the victims and their families, and ensure Las Vegas remains the strong and vibrant city it has always been."
