Seminoles break ground on $1.5bn expansion of Hard Rock Hotel

The proposed expansion, which is slated for completion in mid 2019 will double the size of the current gaming floor, adding 60,000 square foot of new retail and restaurant space. It will also add another 803 hotel rooms to the property, with the bulk of these located in the resorts centrepiece: a 450 foot tall tower in the shape of a guitar which will light up every night.

Upon its completion the new Hard Rock Casino will house over 3,267 slot machines and 178 table games including blackjack and baccarat, plus a new 18,000-square foot poker room.

An additional $100 million is being spent on redesigning and completely rebuilding the resorts Hard Rock Live venue with 7,000 seats in a theatre-style configuration.

In a statement announcing the ceremony, Seminole Tribe Chairman Marcellus Osceola Jr said: “Our ancestors and elders welcomed curious tourists to our Florida reservations, and today’s members of the Seminole Tribe of Florida will soon welcome visitors from all over the world to what will become a landmark destination.”

Hard Rock International Chairman James F. Allen added: “Our talented team of architects and designers have done an amazing job of designing this incredible structure and working to bring it to life, but it’s our team of dedicated employees and managers at Seminole Gaming who really deserve the credit. They are responsible for the ongoing success of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino by helping to lay the foundation to make this expansion project possible.”
