Sport managing director Calum Macaulay has been announced as one of the keynote speakers at the Betting on Football Conference at Stamford Bridge on 8 May.
With TV advertising around football “expensive” and “saturated by gambling operators”, Macaulay will be speaking on branding around radio in a session entitled: ‘Outside the box – opportunities away from TV’.
Conference organiser Andrew McCarron said: “We’re really pleased to get someone of Calum’s standing on the agenda for Betting on Football, given the huge football audience that TalkSport commands."
“The station is also aware of what bookmakers are after as well, given its recent deal with Coral to partner its flagship show, the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast. I’m sure he will provide real insight to both bookies and football clubs about the power of radio.”
The conference is looking in depth at the relationship between betting and football from legal, commercial and ethical viewpoints.
It will be followed later that evening by the Betting on Football Awards, held at the nearby Octoberfest Pub.
