This entry makes it the second poker brand available to players in Portugal, adding to Stars Group’s PokerStars.
Portuguese players will be able to compete against 888Poker’s Spanish customers as a result of the new European interstate poker network.
The operator said the addition of the Portuguese arm of the product will increase player liquidity and allow it to offer customers a greater availability of games and formats.
Guy Cohen, 888 Holdings’ Head of B2C, said: "Portugal is a fantastic opportunity for 888 and we’re excited to be just the second poker operator to enter the market. Players love their poker and there is incredible scope to grow its popularity.
"We’re looking forward to giving everyone the opportunity to enjoy the game. Shared liquidity with 888Poker.es will enhance players’ gaming experience with a greater pool of players and we believe our platform can help lift the entire landscape for poker in Portugal."
In March, 888 announced the first phase of the roll-out of its new poker platform, Poker 8.
Developed off the back of customer feedback and ongoing research, Cohen confirmed this platform would be available to players in Portugal.
CEO, Itai Pazner, first discussed 888’s plan to enhance existing products in an exclusive interview in February, which you can read here.
