HKJC demands Betfair Australia pull its Hong Kong racing betting exchange

The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) has expressed concerns over Betfair Australia’s decision to allow online betting on Hong Kong racing on its exchange.

Last month, Betfair Australia announced it would be offering its online betting exchange to both Hong Kong’s horseracing tracks, Happy Valley and Sha Tin Races, without the approval of the HKJC.

Betfair announced its decision on its social media platforms, without issuing any notice to HKJC.

The Club believes creating the opportunity for people to bet on horses to lose is against what it believes in, and raises an infringement of its intellectual property rights.

All of this has been sent in writing to the Australian government, racing authorities and Crown Resorts, ordering the exchange wagering to be ceased, as well as all promotional content to be removed immediately.

HKJC has made its letter to Betfair public, wanting both the media and public to fully understand the Club’s zero-tolerance towards issues regarding integrity.
