Macau’s casinos still generated MOP5.26bn ($660m) in gross gaming revenue (GGR) for the month of March, despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

In fact, following the reopening of its casinos on 20 February, March’s figure was not far from being double that of February.

But that total still paled in comparison with year-on-year figures, down 80% from March 2019 as the pandemic continues to wreak havoc with the land-based casino sector.

In terms of accumulated GGR, Macau casinos are down 60%, generating MOP30.49bn for the first quarter of 2020.

The data was released by Macau’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau.
