APE donates medical supplies

Asia Pioneer Entertainment Holdings Limited (APE), a gaming distributor based in Macau, donated COVID-19 preventative supplies to local charities. Caritas Macau received a variety of necessities such as protective clothing, face masks and liquid bleach.

APE stated the supplies are meant to help the elderly and socially vulnerable and all the equipment was purchased locally to support smaller businesses. “APE would like to express our appreciation to the social welfare agencies which continually provide aid to the people in need,” said APE CEO and executive director Herman Ng. “I hope the donation to Caritas Macau can relieve the strong demand of epidemic prevention supplies for the front-line workers, and benefit the vulnerable people.”

Macau is still suffering from the effect of the global pandemic. The Health Bureau denies rumors that borders with China might open this week. Instead, the bureau announced the removal of restrictions still has no date set as the negotiations are still going on.

Some of the casinos in Macau were banking on faster re-opening of borders to increase visitor count, but the city’s government isn’t going to rush. While there are still some tourists who are stuck in Macau, the ongoing medical quarantine is unlikely to end anytime soon, and the city’s officials are asking people to be patient.
