The new deal, worth SEK 17m ($1.7m), will see the agreement extended until 31 Dec 2020.
The partnership has been jointly running a number of projects since 2017 and Svenska Spel will continue its investment in Swedish sports through the extension.
Projects stemming from the partnership include: the Forward Project, which provides 62 sports association with resources each year, and the Future Fund, through which sports associations can seek funding for project ideas that lower thresholds for children, adults and the elderly to get involved in physical activity.
The extension will also see the partnership continue its work to combat match fixing.
“When the Swedish sports movement has been hit hard by the corona pandemic, it feels good that Svenska Spel and the Swedish Sports Federation extend the cooperation,” said Patrik Hofbauer, President and CEO of Svenska Spel.
“In this way we secure important funds for Swedish sport. At the same time, work is underway on a more long-term plan for how we together can continue to strengthen the sports movement.”
