San Manuel Casino to open Monday with new safety guidelines and procedures

San Manuel Casino will open in phases to the public starting 15 June. This reopening comes three months after the California tribal casino was the first to temporarily close on 15 March to stop the potential spread of COVID-19.

Like other casinos that have reopened this month, San Manuel Casino has presented a plan with a list of guidelines and safety measures for guests to follow from Monday.

It will limit the capacity of its casino to 2,600 people, and to ensure capacity and the six-foot minimum social distancing guidelines, the casino will operate 2,037 slot machines and 68 two-person table games.

When entering, guests must wear facial coverings and will be subject to health screenings. Temperatures will be taken, which must be below 100.4 F for allowed entry.

Hand sanitizing stations and social distancing signage and markers will be located throughout the casino. Safety styluses will be offered to players to help avoid direct contact when playing machines and touching other surfaces. Facial coverings will also be provided that must be worn by all visitors, except while eating.

At the tables, card decks will be changed every eight hours, Plexiglas will separate the dealer and players for safety and chips will be regularly cleaned during the day and at night. According to the casino, chips were scheduled for cleaning twice a month before the coronavirus.

In a statement, the casino said, “As information and guidance on COVID-19 continue to evolve, we will also respond quickly to modify our procedures and requirements as needed.”

Assistant director of slot operations Todd DiMillo said, “We want to make sure that our guests and team members are playing and working in a safe environment.”
