Bethard to cease UK operations in July
Bethard will halt all operations in the UK next month – almost three years after being awarded its license in the market.
The operator has sent an email to its customers informing them of its decision to cease operations from 6 July 2020.
The company stopped accepting new registrations from UK customers yesterday.
Customers will be permitted to log in and play using Bethard’s services until the end date. All open bets after this point will be voided and players will have five weeks to withdraw their account balances.
Bethard’s reasons for leaving the market are as yet unclear, but Gambling Insider has reached out to the company for comment.
The operator also holds licenses in Malta, Sweden, Denmark, Spain and Ireland.
Earlier this month, Bethard received a fine of SEK 400,000 ($42,785) from the Swedish Gambling Authority for offering customers bets on football matches with players under 18-years-old.
After the original offence in June 2019, a penalty fee of SEK 2.5m was issued, but this was overturned by the Administrative Court after an appeal.
