In December last year, Betsson made clear its intent to enter the Brazilian market after acquiring a 75% stake in Suaposta racing. The racing operator, formerly owned by Codere SA, offered online wagering on Brazilian racing.
The project was conducted as part of Betsson’s partnership with the Jockey Club of Rio Grande do Sul. The rebrand has also included an integration of Betsson’s platform and the creation of a local customer service team.
Commenting on the project's completion, André Gelfi, founder of Suaposta and now managing director of Betsson in Brazil, said: ““We are very excited to present our new platform to the market and to our customers, positioning the Betsson brand in Brazil.
“We have communicated all phases of this re-branding, with total transparency, to make sure the transition was smooth and giving the community the opportunity to become familiar with Betsson.”
Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Betsson has seen growth in 2020. The operator saw revenue of SEK 1.53bn ($170.8m) for the second quarter of 2020, a rise of 20% of year-on-year.
