BGC unveils new online game code of conduct
By Owain Flanders

Through the code, the BGC is aiming to improve player safety and tackle problem gambling. It follows on from the BGC's Safer Gambling Commitments, which were published by the industry group last year.

Among the measures included in the code are a minimum game cycle speed of 2.5 seconds, the ending of turbo player, which allows players to speed up games, and the removal of multi-slot play, which allows players to play different games at the same time.

The code will also make it necessary for operators to conduct more mandatory checks on players’ activities so that they can intervene if signs of problem gambling are observed.

“The BGC was set up last year with the aim of leading a race to the top in terms of standards within the regulated betting industry,” commented Michael Dugher, CEO of the BGC.

“The new Game Design Code of Conduct is yet another example of our determination to address concerns head on and meet our safer gambling commitments.”
