Crown Melbourne set to reopen under strict health measures
By Peter Lynch

The flagship property of Crown Resorts, Crown Melbourne has been closed since 23 March as the Australian government has aimed to contain the spread of coronavirus across the country.

The casino had planned to open some months ago, but those plans were thwarted by a second wave of cases, where all non-essential services were once again shut down.

But with cases decreasing and lockdowns eased, Crown has announced that its Melbourne venue will reopen this week, with several new safety measures in place.

“We have been working for some time with the Victorian Government and health authorities to determine how we can safely reopen Crown Melbourne and have developed extensive physical distancing and hygiene measures to allow reopening in a safe manner,” said Crown Resorts CEO Ken Barton.

“We are pleased to be able to commence the process of welcoming back our employees and customers to Crown Melbourne.”

A limited number of electronic gaming machines and electronic table games will be available, while there will be a maximum of ten customers in ten designated areas on the gaming floor.
