Instead, both clubs will wear special edition shirts for upcoming games, to promote safer gambling national charity Young Gamers and Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM).

QPR will wear a special shirt carrying the logo of YGAM during its EFL Championship fixture on Saturday 21 November, while league rivals Nottingham Forest will do the same on Tuesday 24 November.

The online betting platform, which allows its users to buy and sell shares in footballers, is also supporting YGAM’s work, which aims to raise awareness of potential gambling risks, with a £5,000 ($6,607) donation.

The initiative comes as part of Safer Gambling Week, which takes place between 19 and 25 November in the UK, with the public awareness campaign aiming to promote the responsible gambling message.

Football Index co-founder Mike Bohan, said: “At Football Index, we have always made safer gambling one of our utmost priorities, and we are incredibly pleased to be able to support YGAM’s important work to educate future generations and prevent harm.

“We hope that this initiative will increase awareness and prove an important step towards ensuring young people have the information and knowledge to make informed decisions about gambling.”

YGAM director of external affairs Daniel Bliss, added: “We’re enormously grateful to both clubs and Football Index for their fantastic support. It is vital that we educate our future generations about the potential risks associated with gambling so we can collectively help prevent harm.”
