The deal with the supplier’s sports division, will see the operator, who also runs the Danish national lottery, integrate Playtech’s in-house virtual sports content across its online platform.

Danske Spil has selected eight of Playtech’s virtual sports products across football, basketball, tennis, greyhound racing, horse racing, speedway and cycling, which also offers simulation-based odds.

The partnership follows the supplier’s virtual sports portfolio launching with the likes of Entain, OPAP and MansionBet in 2020.

Playtech Sports virtual sports director Richard Andrew, said: “We’ve seen player engagement for our virtual sports outmatch even our most optimistic expectations in recent months, and we’re delighted to announce that Danske Spil has launched our innovative virtual sports portfolio.”

Danske Spil CEO Pernille Mehl added: “We are pleased to launch a new product vertical in our product portfolio. It is a different product than the classic lottery, which hopefully can attract new customers to our business”.

Playtech’s virtual games were created after a year-long advanced motion filming process in the UK, with the vertical performing strongly during the absence of live sport in early 2020. Statistics from the Gambling Commission covering the biggest online operators in the UK, showed virtual betting gross gambling yield (GGY) rose from £6.6m ($8.9m) in March 2019, to a high of £12.8m in April 2020.
