MGM China and Melco Resorts join Macau operators paying bonuses to employees
By Violeta Prockyte

Pansy Ho Chiu-King, executive director of MGM China, said the bonus is meant to offset the challenges presented by 2020 and the ongoing pandemic. “We thank our team members from the bottom of our hearts for staying united, as well as being loyal,” she said, in order to “contribute their best to the company.”

MGM China is not the only company taking this measure. Earlier in January, Sociedade de Jogos de Macau SA (SJM) announced it will pay living subsidies to eligible employees, which will amount to two months or 1.5 months’ salary.

Melco Resorts & Entertainment also joined the scheme. The company announced it’ll pay a one-month bonus to non-management employees. Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho said, “We are pleased to announce a non-recurring discretionary bonus to recognize the hard work, loyalty and dedication of our eligible non-management colleagues ahead of the Chinese New Year.”

Currently, there are four companies in Macau that offer support payments to their employees: MGM China, Wynn Macau, Melco and SJM.
