The Star Gold Coast to develop new $310m hotel and apartment tower
By Peter Lynch

The new 63-story development will include an internationally recognised five-star hotel brand, and is expected to open in mid-to-late 2024.

It will also include a total of 210 hotel rooms and 457 apartments that will form part of The Star Residences Gold Coast, delivering a fourth hotel to the South East Queensland resort.

Works continue meanwhile on the Dorsett hotel and apartments tower, the inaugural project in the $2bn-plus masterplan for the Broadbeach Island property.

“While we continue to work through and manage the serious impacts of domestic and international border restrictions on our business and the industry more broadly, the decision to proceed with our second tower is part of our unwavering commitment to the Gold Coast,” said Destination Gold Coast consortium chairman and The Star Entertainment Group chairman John O’Neill.

“This city has unique and appealing characteristics that make it an internationally sought-after tourism destination. Domestically, we all know how strongly the Gold Coast resonates as a premier holiday location, particularly for those from the southern states.

“Our focus has never wavered. We are creating a world-class tourism, leisure, and entertainment destination that Gold Coast locals can be proud of, while working towards our vision of becoming Australia’s leading integrated resort company.”

The operator confirmed that 71% of the one, two and three-bedroom apartments have already been sold since pre-sales began in May 2019, adding that the new development will create around 2300 construction, operational and indirect jobs.
