The Japanese company posted an operating loss of JPY299m, an ordinary loss of JPY313m, and a net loss of JPY942m.

Pixel Companyz, as part of a consortium with The One Kyushu, is one of the interested parties in the Nagasaki integrated resort (IR), alongside Get Nice and Current Corp, Casinos Austria International, NIKI Chyau Fwu Group, and Oshidori International and Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment.

The Request for Proposal (RFP) process began in January, with the deadline for submitting documentation for screening having finished on 1 March. Three candidates will be selected later this month, with a second screening to be held in the middle of 2021. One bidder will then be chosen in August.

“Pixel Games has suffered from restricted sales, such as slot machines, that has come with restricted overseas travel and commercial activities in the pandemic,” said Pixel Companyz president and CEO Hiroaki Yoshida.

“I believe that IR will be a growth area for us in the future. Things are difficult, but we will create a business strategy in anticipation of recovery from the coronavirus crisis.”

The company meanwhile has announced Japanese Olympic gymnast Kohei Uchimura as a brand ambassador for its Nagasaki IR bid. The 32-year-old hails from Nagasaki, and boasts three gold medals and four silver medals from his three Olympic Games appearances in Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio de Janeiro 2016.
