By Peter Lynch

Non-executive director Mark Summerfield and senior independent director Anne de Kerckhove will also be members of the Committee.

“The Committee will provide board-level oversight of 888's ESG strategy, targets and progress against key performance indicators,” a statement from 888 read.

888 announced on 3 March 2021 that Mendelsohn would take up the role of chair on 31 March 2021, having joined 888 as chair designate on 23 September 2020. He takes over from long-serving chair Brian Mattingley, who departed for a similar role at Playtech.

“As a board, we are committed to ensuring that issues such as safer gambling, the climate change agenda, diversity and inclusion, and community engagement are consistently incorporated into the group's strategy and decision making,” said Mendelsohn, 888 chairman and chairman of the ESG Committee.

“The creation of this Committee demonstrates 888's firm commitment to continuous ESG improvements and ensuring sustainable and ethical best practice across the group's activities.”

888 Holdings last month reported full year 2020 revenue of $849.7m (£608.9m), a 52% rise from the prior-year period.
