Blanco has experience in the gaming industry, working with cloud, automation and embedded systems technologies. He served as the director of software architecture for HTC and held multiple software engineering roles at Microsoft where he worked on the first Xbox console.

Blanco’s most recent role was chief technology officer at Aristocrat, where he led technology strategy and helped build the technologies and teams that successfully contributed to Aristocrat's land-based gaming business. He was also in charge of the company’s expansion into social casino and casual games.

"Victor's innovative and strategic approach to both software and hardware design is a great fit for our Scientific Games leadership team," said Barry Cottle, Scientific Games president and CEO. "We know that his leadership will ensure we are providing the most innovative games, systems and products for our partners and players."

Blanco expressed his enthusiasm to join Scientific Games. “I can't wait to join this team," he said. "The dream of any technology strategist is to work at an organisation like Scientific Games where creativity and innovation are at the heart of the company."

Despite the pandemic, Scientific Games reported revenue of $762m for 2020, with a net loss of $37m. While gaming revenue fell by 36% year-on-year to $286m, SciPlay saw its revenue increase by 30% to $147m, and digital revenue was $73m, a 1% growth.
