Playtech revenue up for Q1 2015
By David Cook
ider Playtech has revealed its total revenue went up 31% year-on-year from €102.7m to €134.9m in the first quarter of 2015.

The revenue total has not been adjusted to reflect the impact of the point of consumption tax in the UK, which came into effect in December, and Playtech noted it “negatively impacted Q1 2015 revenues”.

Reported revenue growth was 29% when excluding acquisitions, as Playtech completed its acquisitions of fellow provider Aristocrat Lotteries last year and GameMaker: Studio creator Yoyo Games in February.

The area of its business that generated the highest amount of revenue was its casino operations with €70.9m, up 28% from €55.4m.

Poker was the only sector of Playtech’s operations that suffered a drop in revenue, falling 17% from €3.8m to €3.2m.

Playtech CEO Mor Weizer said in a press release: "Playtech has seen a strong start to 2015 with continued execution against our strategy which has delivered both on an operational and financial basis.

“We have signed new licensees, furthered our relationship with existing licensees and continued to lead industry innovation, including launching an app for the Apple Watch on the day it was released, and saw further progress with Playtech ONE initiatives.”

Playtech generated record revenue of €457m for 2014.
