By Sehaj Dhillon

Chief Minister, Pramod Sawant, confirmed on Sunday the state will extend its curfew till 26 July.

Originally the curfew was set to end on 19 July; however, the State Government feels Monday was too early for restrictions to be lifted, as new cases continue to resurface in Goa.

The restrictions were first imposed on 9 May and have been continuously extended since then.

During previous relaxations, shops were allowed to remain open from 7am to 6pm, with saloons and outdoor sports venues also allowed to remain open.

Delta Corp said: “Due to the surge in Covid-19 cases being witnessed in Goa, the Government of Goa inter-alia has extended the restrictions in the state till 26 July 2021.

“Accordingly, the casinos operated by the company and its subsidiaries in Goa will remain closed during this period.”

The group added that at this time it is unable to ascertain the exact amount the company may lose due to the restrictions.

Despite the adverse impact on casinos in Goa, Delta’s operations in Sikkim resumed from 6 July.

Delta Corp added: “The Government of Sikkim has allowed reopening of the casinos in the state subject to the safety norms being followed.

“Further the company and/or its subsidiary operating the casino in the state of Sikkim will resume its operations from 6 July 2021, and will follow all the safety norms laid down by the state in this regard.”
