South African Rugby partners with first betting operator in Betway
By Isabella Aslam

The cemented three-year agreement will see Betway branding at all Springbok home matches in Ellis Park. This is the first online betting and gaming operator to partner with SA rugby, and it will certainly be showing off a presence by appearing on the back of the players' shorts for the full term.

Jurie Roux, SA Rugby Union CEO, said: “This new partnership will enable us to work together in bringing our passionate fans even closer to the game. We are excited to be partnering with Betway as this will stretch beyond the four white lines of a rugby field – Betway has some exciting new initiatives that will be announced in due course as part of the new partnership, and we are excited to see what the future holds.”

Betway, owned by Super Group, is committed to supporting the national team. The Rugby Championship fixture against Argentina will commence the deal, with the team preparing itself for the tournament with a "historic success" over the British and Irish Lions.

Anthony Werkman, Betway CEO, said: “It’s a great honour to be a sponsor of the South African National Rugby team. The Springboks are painted in history and with rugby being a popular sport around the globe, we’re proud to take a step into international rugby sponsorship.

“It’s very exciting that we’ve partnered with the current world champions, which highlights Betway’s appetite to support the biggest names in sport.

“The team have been in great form and we look forward to seeing our logo around the stadium and on the players' kit, starting against Argentina this weekend.”
