Western Sydney Wanderers renew responsible gambling partnership with GambleAware
By Dominic Marius-Markham

The Australian football club will continue to work with the organisation’s Office of Responsible Gambling through the end of the 2021/22 season.

As part of GambleAware’s ‘Reclaim the Game’ initiative, the Wanderers will collaborate with the charity on a new campaign to address the normalisation of sports betting and advertising.

On Monday 15 November, the club inaugurated its renewed partnership with three digital spots, produced by creative company Chisel, that were published on the GambleAware NSW YouTube channel. The short videos feature players from its ISUZU Ute A-League and A-League Women’s sides encouraging fans to focus on the game and not gambling.

Wanderers CEO John Tsatsimas reiterated the importance of this initiative to the club, saying: “It is very important to us to continue to build on our relationship with GambleAware as this is an issue that affects a lot of our Western Sydney community.

“Together with GambleAware and their campaign to Reclaim the Game, we hope to educate and create greater awareness of the impact that sports betting can have in professional sport.”

The Wanderers were the first club in Australia’s top-tier A-League to partner with GambleAware in an effort to provide a more family-friendly sporting experience at its CommBank Stadium home ground.

“Our partnership with the Wanderers to date has been very successful,” said Natalie Wright, Office of Responsible Gambling Director.

“We are thrilled to be working with them for another season, to continue to educate their members, fans, players, staff and community about the importance of Reclaim the Game and highlighting the risks of gambling.”
