Ksa appoints three external experts to expert pool
By Peter Lynch

The external experts - Bas Brons, Mieke Hoste and Marcel Marijnissen - can advise the Ksa board on applications for involuntary registration in the Central Register of Exclusion of Gaming (Cruks).

Since 1 October 2021, it is possible for gambling providers and third parties to submit a request to the board of directors of the Ksa to involuntarily register someone in Cruks. Third parties can be partners or family members.

If the request is granted, the person will not be able to participate in high-risk games of chance for six months.

“It is a drastic decision to forcibly exclude someone from gambling,” a statement from the Ksa read. “Forced exclusion is the ultimate remedy; other, less intrusive measures must first be tried.

“In order to be able to make good decisions, the board of directors can therefore call on the expert pool.”

The Ksa earlier this week reported that many slot machines still fall short of the country’s new legal requirements. The body visited 20 slot machine arcades through October and November 2021 in an effort to guarantee compliance, but concluded that operators must do more.
