Adferiad Recovery and Gordon Moody project commissioned by GambleAware
By Gambling Insider

Adferiad Recovery, in collaboration with Gordon Moody, will deliver a three-year project that will extend the National Gambling Treatment Service (NGTS) provision aimed at adults with gambling issues and alcohol and/or substance use disorders.

Since recovery is not a linear experience, the project developed by the two organisations allows individuals to direct their own treatment and proceed at their own pace. Service users, along with their families and friends, will be able to be actively involved in the care planning process, thus creating a system that is tailored for the person in need.

Although the treatment will be person-centred and individualised, it will broadly encompass medically managed detoxification, acute mental health support as well as residential rehabilitation.

The two organisations share values and complementary skills and expertise. The project they proposed was informed directly by the needs of those with lived experience.

The project also wants to focus on including unrepresented groups in treatment, such as ethnic minority communities, women and younger people.

Anna Hargrave, Chief Commissioning Officer at GambleAware, said: “Adferiad Recovery and Gordon Moody’s proposal identified clear opportunities that can be delivered through a collaborative approach.

“We are pleased to have awarded this grant to these two highly experienced organisations and see it as an important step towards increasing the capacity and effectiveness of the NGTS to ensure many more people get the help and support that they need.”
