Hippodrome Casino completes central London acquisition
By Gareth Bracken
on's Hippodrome Casino has expanded its city centre portfolio through the purchase of an adult gaming centre from low-stakes operator Praesepe.

The sale of Crystal Rooms in Leicester Square, completed for an undisclosed sum, follows an "adjustment of business development strategy" from Praesepe, which is set to focus its efforts on other parts of the country.

Praesepe CEO Nick Harding said: "Following a strategic review of the entire Praesepe business, which also includes bingo clubs and a growing number of coastal businesses, we believe the energy and overall resource required to remain at the top of the game in central London can be deployed more effectively throughout what is a growing business employing some 1,600 staff nationally."

The Crystal Rooms is one of 71 adult gaming centres operated by Praesepe under the Cashino brand in Greater London.

Hippodrome will assume control of the venue following six years of Praesepe ownership.

Hippodrome Casino CEO Simon Thomas said: "This significant new opportunity not only allows us to extend the current gaming offer but delivers a significant platform at street level to showcase the magnificent range of entertainment facilities within the building.

"We have ambitious new plans for the space in the months ahead, so watch this space."
