Komárek, who founded Czech investment company KKCG, and Chvátal, who is CEO of Allwyn Entertainment (formerly Sazka Group), jointly condemned the “senseless” and “brutal” oppression of the Ukrainian people. 

President Vladimir Putin himself is mentioned several times throughout the 447-word letter, whom the two leaders label “barbaric,” and call for any of his allies to be excluded from their society. 

Through the Komárek Family Foundation, the leaders have pledged to help the hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians seeking refuge from Lviv, the Ukraine city close to the Czech border.  

The two leaders commented: “We are supporting efforts to prepare for the arrival of large numbers of refugees by ensuring these people have a safe and warm place to sleep and be fed.  

“Trucks equipped with durable food, mattresses, sleeping bags, camping mats, hygiene products and other supplies are currently arriving in the area. One of the group's offices in Prague is already being converted to a safe centre for Ukrainian refugees. 

“Allwyn Entertainment’s lotteries are raising funds for Red Cross and employees are being encouraged to engage in volunteer work. Humanitarian and financial support will continue as long as it is needed.” 

Recognising the need to “stand shoulder-to-shoulder" with Ukraine, the two leaders have committed to exclude Russian oppressors wherever possible. Through KKCG’s support of Dvořákova Praha – Prague’s international music festival – the company has banned any musicians who have previously shown support for Russian totalitarianism.  

Komárek and Chvátal end their letter with the phrase “Slava Ukraini,” which translates as “Glory to Ukraine.”
