By Peter Lynch

The leading business executive will begin the role on 21 March 2022, having been appointed following an extensive recruitment process.

Kimmitt has over 37 years of professional and commercial experience, having previously served as CEO and Managing Partner of Australian law firm MinterEllison from 2018 to 2021.

Prior to that, she served as the Global Growth Markets Leader at multinational professional services firm Ernst & Young, having previously held other leadership roles at the group, including Asia-Pacific Accounts Managing Partner, Melbourne Managing Partner and Managing Partner Assurance.

In January 2021, Kimmitt became a Non-Executive Director, Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and Member of the Investment Committee of investment company Mirrabooka Investments Ltd, and in May 2021 became a Non-Executive Director of Trawalla Group.

She was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours thanks to her service to business and gender equality and inclusion.

VGCCC Chair Fran Thorn welcomed Kimmitt to the role, saying: “Her background in the business world and her experience in audit and risk management in particular will be a huge asset to our regulation of the gambling and liquor industries and ensuring harm minimisation.”

Thorn also thanked VGCCC’s General Counsel and Executive Director, Regulatory Policy and Legal Services Scott May, for his role as Acting CEO since November 2021, saying: “Scott has shown great leadership during what has been a very busy time for the VGCCC, including overseeing the work to separate the regulation of gambling and liquor and our ongoing response to the pandemic.”
