SBK looking to bounce back from technical issues with Gold Trophy Doncaster sponsorship
By Gambling Insider

Created by Smarkets, SBK has boosted the total prize money of the SBK Gold Trophy at Doncaster today to £25,000 ($32,850, making it the richest Class 4 jumps race in 10 years.

At present, Lucinda Russell’s Douglas Talking is the market leader for the Gold Trophy, with the second favourite currently standing as Ahead Of The Field, ridden by Tom Bellamy. As an incentive to participate, all SBK customers will receive a £10 free bet for the Cheltenham Gold Cup if they also place a £10 bet on the SBK Gold Trophy.

Smarket Spokesperson Adam Baylis commented: "We're really enjoying doing lots more in racing and wanted to have a little bit of fun on one of the biggest racing days in the calendar with the inaugural running of the SBK Gold Trophy. We know the main focus is on Cheltenham but we saw this as a chance to be part of the conversation and it's great to be able to offer a boosted prize pot away from the Festival."

At Doncaster today, SBK is sponsoring the SBK Handicap Hurdle, which is held at 1.20pm as well as the SBK Novices’ Hurdle at 4pm. In addition, it will sponsor the Lincoln Meeting at Doncaster on 26 March.

However, SBK will be looking to bounce back from the technical difficulties it experienced earlier this Cheltenham week, which naturally left bettors unhappy with the sports betting exchange.
