United States Football League joins AGA’s Bet Responsibly campaign
By Gambling Insider

The USFL is the fourth attempt at launching a new American football league, with this latest edition owned and financed by Fox Sports. The broadcaster is said to have committed approximately $200m to the project over a three-year period.

Launching on 16 April, the new league will feature eight teams, with the entire inaugural season held in Alabama.

To promote responsible gambling from the start, it has joined AGA’s ‘Have a Game Plan. Bet Responsibly’ campaign, which was launched in 2019.

The campaign, which has previously partnered with the likes of Rush Street Interactive, Entain, DraftKings, UFC and the New York Knicks, was created due to the rapid growth of regulated sports betting in the US.

Sports wagering is now legal in 33 states, either in-person or online, with over 50% of US citizens now able to bet legally.

Edward Hartman, EVP of Business Operations, USFL, commented: “We’re proud to partner with the AGA to help drive the important message to bet responsibly. As sports wagering expands nationwide, the USFL is committed to help educate our fans so they can better enjoy the experience.”

AGA’s campaign has four key messages to bettors, including setting a bet and sticking to it, ensuring betting remains a social experience, understanding the odds and gambling through trusted operators.

Casey Clark, Senior VP, AGA, said: “Responsible gaming leadership, from professional sports leagues like the USFL, is critical to getting sports betting right. We’re thrilled to welcome the USFL as a partner and value its commitment to prioritising responsible sports wagering education for its fans.”

The USFL’s inaugural game kicks off on 16 April, with the New Jersey Generals and the Birmingham Stallions facing off.
