Last week, Governor Laura Kelly signed a bill legalising sports betting throughout the Sunflower State, and Boot Hill’s operator, a wholly owned subsidiary of Butler National Corporation, is gearing up for launch day.
Under the Sunflower State’s new legislation, Boot Hill may contract up to three sports wagering providers, two of which Butler has now found.
Though it will likely be some time yet before Kansans can place wagers, when that day comes, Butler’s subsidiary, and by extension, Boot Hill Casino, will offer online sports betting with DraftKings and Bally’s.
“We are hoping to try to bring mobile sports betting to Kansans by football season,” said Clark Stewart, Butler National Corporation CEO.
“Kansans should be proud of the cooperative efforts by Kansas legislators, our governor, government agencies and private businesses, like Butler National Corporation, to bring legalised sports betting to Kansas.”
Commenting on their deal, DraftKings’ Griffin Finan, Vice President Government Affairs, Associate General Counsel, said: “With the passage of mobile sports betting legislation in Kansas, DraftKings is excited for the opportunity to enter the state pending licensure and regulatory approvals.
“Together with Boot Hill Casino & Resort, we look forward to engaging with Kansans and providing them with a world-class sports betting experience.”
In addition to online wagering, Boot Hill is permitted to offer a retail sportsbook at its Dodge City property, which it expects will begin accepting wagers as soon as this autumn.
Stewart added: “Our goal continues to be to drive tourism and revenue for the State of Kansas. Sports betting at Boot Hill Casino will give guests another exciting reason to visit Dodge City.”
