Horseshoe Hammond Casino partners with Indiana food bank
By Louis Thompsett

The casino has already had a hand in packing and sorting 192 boxes of perishable foods for the organisation’s Senior Pantry Pack Initiative; 20 employees of Horseshoe Hammond volunteered following a tour of the food bank.

Northwest Indiana has an estimated 100,000 people suffering from food insecurity, meaning they lack access to nutrition for themselves and their families.

Horseshoe Hammond’s latest donation joins $150,000 already committed to charitable causes over the past year, as well as 2,500 hours of philanthropic work undertaken by casino volunteers.

The Caesars Entertainment-owned casino has partnerships with other local charitable organisations, including Haven House Foundation, Salvation Army and Mental Health America of Northwest Indiana.

In addition, Horseshoe Hammond has recently partnered with Meals on Wheels, and will commence voluntary work to deliver meals to the elderly from June. The casino has also assembled 200 hygiene kits for US national enterprise Clean the World.

Horseshoe Hammond’s Vice President and Assistant General Manager, Noah Hirsch, said: “The work that the Northwest Indiana Food Bank does throughout our communities is vitally important, and Horseshoe Hammond is excited to help support the Senior Pantry Pack Initiative.

“Our team was appreciative to have the opportunity to tour the Food Bank, pack boxes and play a part in the fight against food insecurities in our community. We look forward to our continued partnership with the Northwest Indiana Food Bank.”
