It is a strategic move that comes as the company aims to develop and expand its brand marketing objectives.

O’Neal is a former International Olympic Committee member and oversaw some of the Committee’s largest brand deals. In the Samsung Athlete phone programme, O’Neal directed the delivery of phones to Olympic & Paralympic athletes at Tokyo 2020.

In her new role at PointsBet, O’Neal will report directly to Chief Marketing Officer Kyle Christensen, and will work to design and implement a range of new brand marketing strategies.

Powell has extensive experience in the sports gaming and marketing industry, and joins PointsBet from marketing agency The Tenth Man, where he worked as Director of Social and Digital. He has held previous roles at Paddy Power and Betfair, where he brokered partnerships with football giants including Arsenal FC, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Powell will report to O’Neal in his new role as Director of Brand Marketing at PointsBet, and will be responsible for the creation and implementation of new marketing campaigns.

Speaking about the new appointments, Christensen said: “In an industry that’s marked by outsized promos and ad blitzes, PointsBet is aiming to deviate away from this norm; and leverage marketing tactics that work to enhance live sports for fans and bettors while maximising on the current sports betting boom in the states.

"We’re thrilled to have Ansley and Josh onboard and tap into their expertise of the industry, as we work to further cultivate our brand in the US market.”
