Demining is the process of removing mines and other ammunition from public areas in war zones; it is essential for improving and securing a safer life for citizens.
Vita Media Group CEO Jimmi Meilstrup said: “I have seen the list of mines and bombs left in Ukraine, and it's just devastating and horrible to think of the consequences for the civilians. I, as a person, and we, as a company, felt we needed to do something about the war in Ukraine.
"The horrors of war have never brought anything good. The sights of Ukrainian roads, schools, hospitals, and cities polluted with mines and ammunition remnants are not a sight we want to see in the world. And that is why we sent a crew to Ukraine to demine ammunition and mines.”
Vita and the DSGU have secured an agreement with Damasec Global Group, a security company that will provide crucial expertise and experience as the demining process gets underway.
DSGU Country Manager Andy Gleeson, who has over 18 years of experience working in warzones, will lead the teams on-field. Vita will also be launching a website through which people can support and contribute to the project.
