Both The Aftercare Funding Programme and the Community Resilience Fund are designed to support the work done by GambleAware in tackling gambling harm and health inequalities in underprivileged communities.
GambleAware Chief Commissioning Officer Anna Hargrave said: “We are delighted to launch these two funding programmes, which will build capacity among charities and organisations, to better respond to gambling harms in their communities and support people in long-term recovery.”
The £2m Aftercare Funding Programme aims to work alongside charities and organisations to provide support services, so that those in treatment for gambling issues can begin to rebuild their lives.
Small organisations or new projects can be awarded up to £150,000 from the fund, with larger organisations eligible for up to £350,000.
Lived Experience Consultant Owen Baily said: “The launch of GambleAware’s Aftercare Funding Programme is a much-needed and welcome investment, and will play a crucial role in the prevention of further gambling harm by funding a range of projects.”
The £1m Community Resilience Fund is designed to provide rapid, short-term funding to organisations for quick responses to gambling harm exacerbations caused by the cost of living crises.
New organisations and charities who apply will be eligible for up to £100,000 for 12 months.
Hargrave said: “The Community Resilience Fund will help organisations to address specific needs within the community and the inequalities they experience.”
