PointsBet opens first European HQ in Dublin
By Gambling Insider

Located in The Liberties area of Dublin, the HQ will accommodate 70 existing staff, among them developers, analysts and product managers. PointsBet went on to confirm that there are plans to further increase staff numbers throughout the next year and beyond.

PointsBet USA CEO Johnny Aitken said: “I could see certainly that quickly swelling into the 200-300 employee range in Dublin over the next three to five years. There’s no doubt in my mind that we need to continue to fuel growth in Dublin, which is going to reap a lot of success for our global business.”

While PointsBet does not currently offer betting services in Europe, the operator acquired Dublin-based gambling software provider Banach Technology in March 2021. The move was indicative of PointsBet’s growth and expansionist objectives.

The company has not ruled out the possibility of offering betting services in Europe at some point in the future. However, Aitken confirmed that this new Dublin HQ will focus on the company’s primary markets in the US, Canada and Australia.

Aitken said: “Putting our stake in the ground here in Dublin is fantastic. As we expand and grow into more states and also more provinces of Canada, which has also legalised sports betting, the team will grow accordingly to meet the demands of that opportunity.”

In June 2022, PointsBet announced an AU$94.2m (US$65.6m) investment from SIG Sports Investment, a member of the Susquehanna International Group of Companies.
