Under this agreement, they will collaborate on gambling and lottery supervision, as well as enforcement, by sharing information and resources in a push to bolster their respective efforts.

Specifically, they will exchange legal information, market regulation practices, the application of legislation and requirements for businesses.

They also plan to hold joint seminars and lectures, among other forums, to discuss and disseminate their respective insights.

Virginijus Daukšys, Director of Lithuania’s Gaming Control Authority, said: “We are ready to share with our Ukrainian colleagues our experience in areas where we already have a lot of expertise and practice, for example, in the field of problem gambling prevention, the application of measures against illegal remote gambling operators and technical requirements for gambling devices.”

This new agreement extends and expands an ongoing collaboration between both regulators that began almost one year ago. However, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on 24 February hindered their work’s “smooth progress.”

Nevertheless, the new MOU constitutes an official declaration by both parties to continue their cooperation and pursue mutual objectives, undeterred.

“We are very pleased with this agreement and with the fact that our new partners are colleagues of the authority of this tenacious, unyielding and proud country,” added Daukšys.

“We hope this cooperation will be mutually beneficial and we will support and assist our Ukrainian colleagues in their needs to the best of our abilities and in the scope of our competence.”
