The Star appoints Anne Ward and David Foster as non-executive directors
By Gambling Insider

The appointment of Anne Ward and David Foster as non-executive directors (NED) will make them The Star’s newest board members, subject to regulatory approvals.

Both will bring more than three decades’ worth of experience in their respective fields to the group. Ward has worked in various sectors including financial services, banking, insurance, technology, healthcare and entertainment, among others.

Earlier this year, she joined the board of Crown Resorts, only to retire following the completion of its takeover by Blackstone in June.

Regarding her appointment, Ward said: “I look forward to joining the board and helping shape the programme of work to transform The Star and drive value for shareholders.”

Foster, meanwhile, has worked for more than 25 years in the financial services sector, a timespan that includes five years as CEO of Suncorp Bank.

He currently holds directorships at several Australian Stock Exchange-listed companies, including Bendigo and Adelaide Bank.

“I am very pleased to be joining the board of The Star and look forward to contributing to organisational change that will deliver benefits for all stakeholders,” Foster commented.

Their addition corresponds to a programme of board renewal referenced in earlier announcements, added the group.

“Anne and David bring a relevant set of skills to our board at this important juncture,” said The Star’s interim Chairman Ben Heap.

“They have extensive experience in highly regulated industries, impressive backgrounds in risk and compliance and invaluable leadership insights forged during their respective careers in law and banking.”
