IGT subsidiary pens Portugal lottery terminal deal with SCML
By Gambling Insider

The deal will see IGT’s Retailer Vue lottery terminal introduced in Portugal, after a procurement process. Up to 7,200 terminals are expected to be delivered by 2023.

IGT Global Lottery COO Jay Gendron said: "In today's ever-evolving lottery landscape, it is important that IGT provides SCML with high-performing solutions to meet present and future market needs.

“We look forward to our continued partnership with SCML and the world debut of our new terminal which will benefit the lottery, its retailers and players while driving maximum sales growth and contributions toward good causes."

The Retailer Vue terminal makes use of a 13.3-megapixel camera to read playslips, winning tickets, identification cards and mobiles.

The terminal removes the need for additional hardware, which reduces barriers between players and clerks by freeing up counter space, and offers contactless transactions.

Additionally, the terminal is compatible with in-store advertising displays, offering integrated promotions and jackpots at the point of sale. The touchscreen interface works to increase the speed and efficiency of transactions, with players able to interact directly with the terminal.

IGT has over 475,000 point of sale lottery terminals in global jurisdictions. Despite this, the company’s global lottery income reported losses in IGT’s Q2 financial results, falling 11% year-on-year to a total of $648m.

This result came amid a disappointing overall fiscal quarter, with a 2% annual drop in total revenue.

However, IGT’s global gaming performed well, amounting to $330m, representing growth of 21%.
