Catena Media prepares to launch sports betting affiliation activities in Kansas
By Gambling Insider

The Sunflower State’s sports betting market will go live in September, following an announcement from Governor Laura Kelly last week.

From 1 September, operators will be permitted to accept wagers, with an official launch planned for 8 September – the start of the new NFL season.

As a result, Catena is finalising preparations to debut sports betting affiliation services in Kansas. The business has already made pre-launch offers available to operators, remarking that it has “detailed plans” for the state, as well as future US jurisdictions.

These include Ohio, Maryland and Massachusetts, of which the latter two are expected to launch sports betting in 2023.

In each state, Catena will aim to leverage the reach of its website portfolio, which includes LegalSportsReport.com, TheLines.com and GamingToday.com.

“Our strong portfolio of national and regional sites puts us in a solid position ahead of the huge customer acquisition period we see when any new state launches sports betting,” said Dustin Gouker, Catena Media Vice President of North America, Content.

“We are excited about this next wave of regulated legal online sports betting in the US.”

Earlier this month, the company expanded its strategic review. This was established in May to explore the sale of certain assets, and will now cover Catena’s entire European business.

Ultimately, the review is part of an effort to “free up resources” as Catena looks to take advantage of opportunities in other markets, including North America.

Catena also published its Q2 results last week, noting a 5% revenue drop.
