Ygam has signed the Armed Forces Covenant; a pledge to assist servicemen, women and veterans.

The charity has previously extended support to members of the armed forces community, offering reservists additional time off for training and maintaining an inclusive recruitment policy, among other efforts.

But Ygam has now made an official declaration of support, joining a long list of other big-name organisations who have also signed the Armed Forces Covenant, such as Sky UK.

“It’s important to us, as an employer, to support the Armed Forces Covenant,” said Dr Jane Rigbye, Ygam Chief Executive.

“We are very proud to employ members of the armed forces and work closely with other charities serving both current and former military personnel.

“This is a natural progression for us as an organisation that cares about its social impact, the lives of people in the UK and our team members.”

Ygam’s staff team has now surpassed 40 employees, two of whom are currently serving as reservists. Sam Robinson is an education manager for Ygam, leading the charity’s work in Wales.

He is also an army reservist, or more specifically, a lance corporal in the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers.

Robinson commented: “Reservist careers give you lots of new and varied experiences, the fact Ygam has chosen to recognise and value that is hugely important, and by showing that support through the Covenant shows a real and enduring commitment to the armed forces family.”

Ygam has also received the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme’s (ERS) bronze award.

Meanwhile, in other recent news, Ygam was among several charities that launched an educational framework yesterday to inform young people about gambling harm.
