Svenska Spel adds content from Slotmill
By Gambling Insider

The Swedish state-owned company has added the supplier’s slots portfolio to its roster of casino titles, furthering Svenska Spel’s iGaming proposition.

Covid-19 gave iGaming a temporary bump as brick-and-mortar facilities were forced to close, but since restrictions were relaxed, Svenska Spel’s online segment has experienced a year-on-year decline.

This can be largely attributed to an unfavourable comparative period; 2021 was an uncommonly successful year for iGaming content.

However, competition from a resurgent land-based sector has likely forced Svenska Spel to bolster its online content offering, hence deals such as this one.

“We are cautious when adding new content to ensure that it meets our requirements for fairness and player protection,” said Niklas Örtbrant, Head of Online Casino at Svenska Spel.

“Slotmill has been on our radar screens for a while and their game portfolio offer both variation and superb player excitement.”

Meanwhile, Andreas Ternström, Chief Commercial Officer at Slotmill, said: “To be selected as content provider to Svenska Spel Sport & Casino is fantastic and proves that Slotmill delivers content of the highest quality.

“We have put much effort in regulatory compliance and innovation which clearly is paying off.”

In addition to online casino content, Svenska Spel offers sports betting and land-based gaming via a network of retail points of sale, as well as the Casino Cosmopol brand.

In August, Svenska Spel earmarked more funding for problem gambling research to be delivered over the next five years.
