Dutch regulator assessed between 2017-2021: A pass but room for improvement
By Tim Poole

The report covers the period between 2017 and 2021, and aims to evaluate the "effectiveness and efficiency" of the Ksa.

Overall, the report concludes that the regulator succeeded in performing a number of "mandatory and urgent" tasks properly.

However, key areas of improvement were suggested, including further professionalising the regulatory body, further developing supervision, the division of certain departments and increasing the Ksa's capacity to tackle illegal land-based gambling.

Ksa Chairman of the Board René Jansen took the recommendations into consideration: “The evaluation gives the Ksa good recommendations on how it can improve its effectiveness and efficiency. They fit in particularly well with the professionalisation that the organisation has already started.

“The challenge now is to formulate what further steps the Ksa will take in the coming period towards supervision and enforcement based on data.”

Additional points raised by Jansen included a request for clarification about how various governmental bodies can help the Ksa combat gambling addiction, as well as what extra support the Ksa can expect in fighting illegal land-based betting.

In the FIFA 2022 World Cup, meanwhile, the Netherlands has qualified for the quarter-finals, where it will face a Lionel Messi-led Argentina side.

Argentina is priced at 23/20 to beat the Dutch in 90 minutes on Friday, whereas the Netherlands is priced at 13/5 for an outright win. If we were a tipping website, Gambling Insider might point out the value in backing the Dutch – but crypto bettors might be more tempted by La Albiceleste.
