AGA releases anti-human trafficking industry toolkit
By Peter Lynch

It comes after the body published its anti-human trafficking guide in June 2022, with January 2022 representing National Human Trafficking Prevention Month. The month aims to see industries across the US reaffirm their commitment to protecting and empowering survivors of human trafficking, prosecuting traffickers, and bringing an end to human trafficking.

The new AGA toolkit includes communications materials, social media graphics, ways for gaming employees to participate, and additional programmes aimed to spread awareness of this important issue.

Moreover, it features four weekly themes for the month of January to help focus industry activities. January 1-7 focuses on Support Survivors, followed by Work with Law Enforcement from January 8-14. Unite with Travel Partners is the theme for January 15-21, and finally Empower Employees is the focus for January 22-31.

The AGA noted that the gaming industry can use key messages to create material and inform communications during the month, including the message that everyone in the industry has a “moral and legal obligation” to ensure that both customers and employees are in a safe environment, and are taking significant steps to both identify and prevent human trafficking.

A statement from the AGA read: “The AGA and our Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force are deeply committed to advancing industry efforts in this space and upholding gaming’s responsibility to communities in which we operate.

“The goal of this toolkit is to provide a resource for the gaming industry and to amplify National Human Trafficking Prevention Month initiatives. Together, we can combat human trafficking.”
