FBM Foundation donates $16,000 to help Middle East earthquake victims
By Matthew Nicholson

When the recent earthquakes hit Syria and Turkey on 6 February, thousands lost their lives in the disaster. Companies from all around the world have been donating to the two organisations heavily involved in aiding those that remain in need – and the FBM Foundation has highlighted the importance of helping those most in need during the crisis.

The $11,000 donated to UNICEF is enough to donate an emergency kit to aid vulnerable groups, while the $5,000 sent to AKUT was used to give those affected food, clean water, blankets, medical supplies and other essential healthcare products and services.

Vítor Francisco, Director of FBM Foundation, said of the donation it made to help with the tragedy: “When it comes to providing support to circumstances beyond one’s control such as the one that occurred in Turkey and Syria, making quick decisions that can be rapidly implemented is crucial to the success of relief operations, and financial support is one great example of how we can make a big impact in someone’s life in a short time”.

The earthquake measured 7.8 on the Richter scale and devastated buildings, many of which toppled with people still inside them – leaving untold others homeless, too.

FBM further stated: "This solidarity action was conducted with the goal of helping with the recovery of those who suffered the consequences of this unexpected event, as well as with the reconstruction and rebuilding of the affected areas."
