In response to the move, PokerMatch International has issued a statement in an attempt to calm its audience while claiming its subsidiary brand is not guilty of the allegations.
PokerMatch said: “We would like to inform our partners that these sanctions have no impact on the international operations of the PokerMatch brand. The company is not abandoning its plans to develop new regions and continues to provide its existing customers with a full range of services, including fulfilling all its commitments.
“The PokerMatch brand also deeply regrets the inclusion of its partner in the sanctions list and considers this decision to be erroneous.”
The company also highlighted the measures it took when the war began to cut ties with Russia by blocking Russian players’ accounts and terminating partnerships with companies from Russia.
Furthermore, PokerMatch reiterated its support for Ukraine, saying: "PokerMatch also supported the Ukrainian army and Ukrainian families in need,” and that it was “devoted to Ukraine.”
The sanctions come after the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, announced on 11 March 2023 that the Government would be taking action against any gambling companies with ties to Russia.
Zelenskyy said: “Our new sanctioning step against individuals and legal entities associated with the evil state. The relevant decree has been published.”
