Pala casino compact is finally updated
By Priscillia Mudiaki
rnor Jerry Brown has announced that he has signed a new tribal-state gaming compact with the Pala Band of Mission Indians in California.

The current terms supersede the 2004 compact between the Californian state and the Pala casino properties. The new agreement has several clauses, including a supplement of 500 slot machines to the 2000 gambling machines that the casino was allowed to have in the prior deal. However Jack Taylor, the spokesman of the casino, has claimed that adding gaming devices is not a priority at the moment.

The updated deal includes terms relating to the development of water conservation projects and health care facilities among other things, that provide a mutual benefit between the local community and the tribe.

The Pala Band of Mission Indians will also continue to share revenue with tribal governments that have not chosen to operate casinos.
